Pilates is a form of exercise incorporating a range of different movements to work on flexibility and strength. The aim of Pilates is to establish the setting of key principles through the Pilates teaching within classes. The challenge then arises by then moving through the exercises while maintaining control of the positioning of these key principles. Pilates exercises can be adapted for any level and can be made easier or more difficult depending on levels of fitness.
Pilates was founded by Joseph Pilates in the form of Contrology and was later named after Joseph. There are many different styles of Pilates classes.
Our focus at EMS Pilates are classes with clinically adapted Pilates exercises that can welcome any ability level.
EMS Pilates was founded in 2018. EMS Pilates offers a range of group classes, one-to-one and corporate classes.
Pilates classes are Physiotherapist led with the instructors certified by the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute). The EMS Pilates instructors have completed the APPI Matwork examination and continue to complete the annual CPD requirement to maintain the certified status.
The Instructor profiles can be found on APPI website.
EMS Pilates classes are purposely kept small in size with a maximum of 12 clients in each group allowing for personal client feedback. As a new client a 1:1 induction will be offered on joining a group EMS Pilates class.
